The Weather After Death - 2004 - 2006 - Two channel video projection - Variable size
The Weather After Death is a two-channel video projection. The left channel is the ceaseless waves of a digitally constructed animation titled A Gray and Confused Digital Ocean. The right channel is a black-and-white video of a weather forecaster with all the information she is addressing removed from the background. The figure is slowed down by a factor of 25, turning a two and a half minute discourse into 45 minutes of slowly gesturing to nothingness.
On Thursday, December 3rd Michael Cook’s death lead the news in Indianapolis. His body was found in a hot-tub. There was a brief mention of his wife being questioned about his death. Murder was suspected. A short time later Angela Buckman (the forecaster) predicted the following day to be light snow mixed with rain. I don’t remember what the weather was like that day. I never found out what happened to Michael Cook.
